An IEP is a legally binding document developed for each public school child who needs special education. It outlines specific educational goals for your child and describes the services and supports the school will provide to help achieve those goals.
As a parent, these are important for your child. Be very open and also listen. You will learn, and the teacher will know how house life is different from what you hear about their school life. It is essential for so many steps while your child is Pre-21 (if you find out sooner rather than later, your child will start this in preschool, and most school programs go until they are 21). 18-21 is transition and learning how to be independent as much as possible.
